Read More	DUDLEY, GERTRUDE URSULA—Gertrude Ursula Dudley was born to Samuel and Mary Ann Sandage Bumgarner on September 13, 1906, in Geneva, and passed away November 8, 2008, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva at the age of 102 years. Gertrude was one of six children in her family. Gertrude and Chester Dudley were married on December 20, 1929. Gertrude and Chester had two sons, John Phillip Dudley and Richard Eugene Dudley. John is married to Diane Zechser Dudley, and they have three children and six grandchildren, Richard is married to Lillian (Bunny) Albrecht Dudley and they have five children and seven grandchildren. Gertrude’s interests and life focused on her family. She was also very active in her community. Gertrude was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva for more than 75 years. She became a member in 1929, when she and Chester were married. She was always among the first to volunteer with help and food for others when there was illness or death in another family. She was active in the Rebekah Lodge, numerous women’s groups in the church and was in the group of women who founded Kensington in 1934. She was also a member of several bridge clubs. Her other interests included sports of all kinds, but especially Nebraska football. She was watching the Nebraska-Kansas game at the time she passed away. She had great love and admiration for her hometown of Geneva where she lived all 102 plus years of her life, and knew all about its considerable history. She had wonderful friends with whom she had a lifetime of fun and meaningful experiences. But, it was obvious to all who knew Gertrude, that her real love and interest was her family. She spent quality time with her children, grandchildren great-grandchildren and nieces all of her life until the day she passed away. S he loved family gatherings, family parties, visits from family and entertaining all family members on special occasions. She was indeed the penultimate mom, grandma and aunt. We all have “Grandma Gertrude” stories we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Chester Eugene; parents, Samuel and Mary Ann Sandage Bumgarner; sisters, Francis Bumgarner, Virginia Schreiber, Rhea Randall, Marion Witt; and brother, Donald Bumgarner. She is survived by sons, John and Richard; daughters-in-law Diane and Lillian; eight grandchildren, Kammie Dudley and Krisha Meader, Jenny Creswell, Susan Rickert, Judy Dudley, Krista Dudley, David Dudley, and Kim Pyper; 13 great-grandchildren and five nieces. Memorial services were held November 11, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva, with the Rev. Detlef Swartz officiating. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
