Gertrude (Zoet) Rodenburgh was born on the family farm north of Hull on July 24, 1923, to John and Hendrika (Margre) Zoet. She attended Garfield Township rural school through the seventh grade near her home. On June 11, 1952, she was united in marriage to Simon Rodenburgh at her parents' home. The couple farmed near Hull throughout their marriage and were blessed with two daughters. The couple moved to Sioux Center in 1992 after retiring. Gertrude was a devoted member of First Reformed Church of Hull. She volunteered at Hull Christian School while her daughters were in school. Over the course of her life, she created beautiful embroidery work, which she entered in local fairs. Gertrude loved gardening and growing flowers, and she surrounded the outside of her home with colorful flower beds which she tended with care. Most important to her was her family. She cherished her grandchildren, and her face would light up whenever they came to visit. She also loved spending time with her siblings and nieces and nephews at family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Henry, Joe, Johan and Andrew Zoet; brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Angeline Zoet; a sister, Gertie Zoet; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha and Sam Attema and Coba and Paul Vander Ploeg; two brothers-in-law, Walter Boogerd and Art Moss; two step-grandchildren, Cheryl and Brian Punt; and a great-stepgrandson, Anthony Hoekstra.
