Born in Monticello July 27, 1898, she was the daughter of Harry R. and Mata Stutt Folkers. She was educated in Jones county rural school and was a lifelong member of Wayne Zion Lutheran church. She married John H. Freese at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church Dec. 21, 1914. They farmed in Wayne and Jackson townships until 1943, when they moved to Anamosa. In 1957 they moved to Monticello. Mr. Freese preceded her in death Apr. 17, 1960. Services were Saturday, Sept 7, at 2 p.m. at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilobertson officiated: Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. Surviving are seven children, Evalena Helgens, Scotch Grove; Alv II. Freese, Monticello; Mrs. Larry Walton, Anamosa; Mrs. Raymond Biere, Anamosa; Mrs. Donald Schwartz, Monticello; Mrs. Owen Edwards, Iowa City; Louis T. Freese, Monticello; 26 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four brothers, Harm Folkers, Fancy Prairie, Ill.; John H. Folkers, Scotch Grove; Henry E. Folkers, Scotch Grove; William T. Folkers, Scotch Grove; Mrs. Carl Ricklefs, Monticello; one sister, Mrs. Carl Ricklefs, Monticello.
