Mr. Hauser was born in Surry County March 25, 1920, the son of the late Gideon Clay Hauser Sr. and Lemmie Saunders Hauser. Mr. Hauser was a retired tobacconist and farmer. Read More	MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Gideon Clay Hauser Jr., 81, of 1529 Five Oaks Trail, husband of Helen Renfrow Hauser, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2002. Mr. Hauser was born in Surry County March 25, 1920, the son of the late Gideon Clay Hauser Sr. and Lemmie Saunders Hauser. Mr. Hauser was a retired tobacconist and farmer. He graduated from Mount Airy High School and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He had lived in Mount Airy for all but a few years of his life. An animal lover, he raised horses, fainting goats, cows, dogs and chickens on his farm in Holly Springs, where he worked daily until his health failed and he sold the property. Mr. Hauser especially loved horses and attended many horse shows. He raised, traded, trained and talked about horses at any opportunity. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner and was a member of the Granite Masonic Lodge No. 322 AF&AM. The Scottish Rite Free Masons recently awarded him a 50 year membership pin. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen Renfrow Hauser of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim Ashburn of Garner; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Renfrow and Karen Hauser of Mount Airy; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hauser of Mount Airy; grandchildren and spouses, Mark Hauser and David and Julie Hauser, all of Mount Airy, Scott and Sheri Hauser of Charlotte, Bucky and Kelly Hauser of Stuart, Va., Amy and Steve Lindsey and Lee and Trish Ashburn, all of Raleigh; and two great-grandchildren, Kristen Lindsey and Taylor Hauser. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hauser was preceded in death by a son, Gideon Clay "Cub" Hauser III; and two sisters, Jacqueline Trevathan and Anne Hernandez. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Mr. Charles Vaughn, a long time friend of the family. The Hauser family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215; or Central United Methodist Church, 1909 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030. May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
