Langemeier Gilbert Langemeier, 36, who met his death by electrocution on June 8, on the Wm. Suhr farm northwest of Hooper, when a portable farm elevator came in contact with an REA power line, was the son of Mrs. Bertha Langemeier and the late George Langemeier, of Hooper. He was born here October 15, 1913. He attended District 18 school and graduated from Hooper High school in 1932. On August 18, 1938, he was married to Mildred Knieriem of Scribner to which union were born, Robert, Ruth and Steve. Following their marriage, they settled on a farm in the community northwest of Hooper, he becoming a prominent farmer and widely known as a raiser of purebred hogs. At the time of his death, he was vice president of the Duroc Breeders Association. Survivors include his widow, three children, his mother, Mrs. Bertha Langemeier of Hooper; brothers John, Edwin, and Walter of Hooper, Arnold of Ithica, and his twin brother, Wilbert of Snyder, a sister, Mrs. Norman Keller of Hooper. Two brothers, Elmer and Martin, preceded him in death. Mr. Langemeier's father, was killed in a car accident about 8 years at Hooper. Funeral services were held last week Sunday afternoon at the Scribner Congregational Church with Rev. L. Reifel officiating. Orville Von Seggern sang "In The Garden" and "He cares". Organist was Mrs. D. D. Hill. Pallbearers were; W. Suhr, P. Hasebroock, L. Havekost, A. Schole, R. Von Seggern and E. Hilbers. Interment was in the Scribner cemetery. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - The Hooper Sentinel June 15, 1950 Hooper Farmer is Electrocuted Funeral services were held Sunday at Scribner for Gilbert Langemeier, 36 year old farmer northwest of Hooper, at the Congregational church. Mr. Langemeier was accidently electrocuted Thursday afternoon on the farm of Bill Suhr, a neighbor. He was disconnecting a tractor from a portable farm elevator when the elevate and an REA power line came in contact with each other. The elevator had been used for moving hay bales and was being moved to the Langemeier farm. Witnesses said that Mr. Langemeier was disconnection the elevator from the tractor, the power line apparently swung over and touched the machinery. Langemeier walked away a few feet and collapsed. Surviving are his widow, the former Mildred Knieram of Scribner, and three children. His twin bother is Wilbert Langemeier of Snyder.
