Description	:	Gilbert Owens was born in Jasper County, Iowa, January 22, 1863. January 22, 1892, he was married to Miss Nettie Ogburn, to which union four children were born. He came to Nebraska in 1902 and settled on a farm near Geneva in Fillmore County. While here he united with the Chelsea United Brethren Church and was a faithful member and enjoyed the fellowship of the church people there. Read More	Gilbert Owens was born in Jasper County, Iowa, January 22, 1863. January 22, 1892, he was married to Miss Nettie Ogburn, to which union four children were born. He came to Nebraska in 1902 and settled on a farm near Geneva in Fillmore County. While here he united with the Chelsea United Brethren Church and was a faithful member and enjoyed the fellowship of the church people there. A little over twenty years ago he moved his family to a farm near Exeter, and later moved into town. He was taken ill about two weeks ago and in the early morning of May 25, 1940, he passed into the Great Beyond, aged 77 years, 4 months and 3 days. he leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Nettie; four children, Orley Owens of Grand Island, Mrs. D. H. Davis of Lincoln, Clyde Owens of Fairmont and Mrs. Edgar Bradley of Rockwell City, Ia.; a sister, Mrs. Mattie Ashmore of York; 10 grandchildren and a very large circle of friends. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. E. Bashford at the Congregational Church Monday afternoon, May 27. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 1940
