CATW ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OBITUARY: Girard William Dunken, son of John G. and Mary Susan Dunken, was born in Richland County, Wisconsin, Feb. 4, 1867, and passed away in Hebron, Neb., Jan. 13, 1855, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 9 days. When a small child he, with his parents, left Wisconsin traveling by ox team and covered wagon coming to Nebraska and settled on land two and a half miles north of Nelson where he grew to manhood. He joined the Pleasant View United Brethren church (sic) when a young man and lived an honest and upright life. On Oct. 9, 1889, he was married to Margaret Bell Harritt and to this union three children were born. They are Cecil E., and Mrs. Clyde Moss of Nelson, and Paul H. of McGrath, Minn. About a year after his marriage he and his wife moved to Califrnia (sic) where he lived for nine years, then returned to Nelson and farmed for several years. Then with his family he moved to southeast Texas for a few years before returning to Nebraska. Later he went to Minnesota where he farmed. In 1927 he returned to Nelson and has lived here since then. His wife preceded him in death May 4, 1909. He was a kind and loving father. He leaves to mourn him his three children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, one brother, Arthur of Nelson, one sister, Mrs. Grace Dircks of Newcastle, Wyo. and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, Jan. 15, in Klawitter chapel in Nelson, with the Rev. R.L. Williams officiating. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
