Description	:	Gladys Bratrud Rierson, daughter of Ole and Mary (Oleson) Bratrud, was born December 18, 1911 in rural Graettinger, Iowa. She was baptized in 1912 in Cylinder and confirmed in Graettinger. Gladys grew up in Graettinger, Ringsted and Ruthven areas. She graduated from Graettinger High School in 1931. Gladys was employed at the Telephone Company for a few years. On April 17, 1938, Easter Sunday and her mother's birthday, Gladys was united in marriage to Lief Rierson at the First Lutheran Church in Graettinger, Iowa. Gladys grew up in Graettinger, Ringsted and Ruthven areas. She graduated from Graettinger High School in 1931. Gladys was employed at the Telephone Company for a few years. On April 17, 1938, Easter Sunday and her mother's birthday, Gladys was united in marriage to Lief Rierson at the First Lutheran Church in Graettinger, Iowa. After her marriage Gladys was a dedicated wife and homemaker and helped Lief in the field. Gladys was a member of Lost Island Lutheran Church where she was active in church circles, WELCA and singing in the choir. Gladys loved making quilts and received many blue ribbons at the Clay County Fair. She was especially fond of the Yo-Yo pattern. She also made tablecloths and liked going shopping. One of her favorite places to dine was Kentucky Fried Chicken. After Lief's death on June 25, 1979 Gladys continued to live on the farm until she moved to PARC Hall in Emmetsburg in 2004. In recent years Gladys was instrumental in assisting with the Rierson Family History. She also wrote poetry and had a book of her poems published. Gladys died Friday, May 4, 2007 at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lief; three sisters, Mabel, Alice and Alma; and two brothers, Henry and Melvin. She is survived by two nieces, Donna Oleson and Marlys Macomber; a nephew, Allen Bratrud; as well as other relatives and many friends. Arrangements by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home
