Description	:	Gladys Marcella (Clinton) Brentnall was born on February 16, 1913, at her family farm in southern Cass County. Gladys was the fifth child of Frank and Rachel (Cruise) Clinton's seven children. She went to country school until 8th grade and then attended Massena High School. Read More	Gladys Marcella (Clinton) Brentnall was born on February 16, 1913, at her family farm in southern Cass County. Gladys was the fifth child of Frank and Rachel (Cruise) Clinton's seven children. She went to country school until 8th grade and then attended Massena High School. For several years after high school, Gladys was a nanny to her sister and brother-in-law's two children in Omaha. Gladys was a devout Catholic. She was nearly a life long member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Massena. On April 6, 1940, she married her husband Woodrow M. Brentnall. They shared 53 years together before Woodys death in 1994. Farming was a large part of Gladys and Woody's life. For 46 years they owned a humble 200 acre farm near Massena. Gladys always enjoyed raising and tending to her chickens. She was also an accomplished seamstress, able to mend, shorten, or alter any clothing that needed attention. In their retirement, the Brentnalls moved to Chariton to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Sam Voss. Many hours were spent following the activities of their only grandchild, T.J. Gladys was very fond of her new home. She frequented the local stores on the town square and enjoyed the activeness of an urban setting. Gladys always had a special way of making those around her happy: baking homemade pies for Woody, spending time with Theresa on days she was too sick to go to school, or the candy treat that always seemed to find its way into the hands of T.J. and the neighborhood children. Gladys passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Chariton Nursing & Rehab Center with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her two brothers: Joe and Earl Clinton; and four sisters: Monica Timberman, Dolores Hopkins, Ruth Hogan, and Bertha Waters. Her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Sam Voss; grandson T.J. and fiance Jennifer; sister-in-law Marie McKay; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
