She leaves to mourn her death her mother, Mrs. Frank Francis, two brothers, Wayne of Tulsa, Okla., and William of the U.S. Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and her step father Mr Frank Francis, besides many relatives, her Classmates, and a host of friends. Her father died a few months before her birth in Western Nebraska, leaving Mrs Francis the difficult role of both mother and father of a brood of three at a time when conditions were far different from those existing in the west today. Gladys was a member of the Nelson High School Class of 1918, and was one of three girls who practically tied for honors of the class. She was a member of the M.E. church and Sunday school and was always faithful in church, league and school work. Her cheerful smile will be long remembered by all who knew her, for she was possessed of wonder fully happy temperament seldom equalled (sic) even in the young. She was especially the friend of little children and had a wonderful influence with them. Her passing was especially sad, the contagious nature of the disease making a private funeral necessary. Rev. Hull conducted a brief service on the lawn near the home at six o'clock Sunday afternoon and interment was made in Nelson cemetery (sic) at sundown, with her Class, her Sunday school class, and a few friends and relatives near by. Beautiful floral tributes awaited the funeral party at the grave, and all that could be was done to help the sorrowing ones bear this deep affliction. Touching reference made at the Tabernacle meeting and at the service at the grave. Rev. Hull especially dwelt on the thought that her years of preparation were not to be in vain - that "God knows best and sometime we may understand." We know that her first face-to-face meeting with both earthly and heavenly Father on that other shore can only be a joyous one, and we bow in humble submission to His will.
