He was born April 26, 1947, in Clay Center to Glen Sr. and Margaret Rose (Walsh) Leiszler. He attended grade school in Clay Center and graduated in 1965 from Maur Hill Preparatory School in Atchison, Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1974. He married Carol McIntyre on August 6, 1977. He began working for his father at Leiszler Oil Co. on February 1, 1969. George was President of the Kansas Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association in 1992. He was also Chairman of the Board of the National Phillips 66 Marketers Advisory Board. In 1998, George received the Shield of Excellence Award from Phillips 66. He became a member of the Board of Directors of Union State Bank in Clay Center in 1996. He was a member of the Clay Center Country Club Operating Board and was president when the new club house was built. He was also a member of the Country Club Holding Board. He was a member and served as President of the Clay Center Rotary Club. George was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and served as Chairman of the Finance Committee during the church's recent remodel. Survivors include his wife Carol Leiszler, Clay Center; daughters Alison Leiszler, Clay Center, Samantha Leiszler, Manhattan, Kansas, and Natalie Leiszler, Manhattan; and sisters Judy and husband Duane Lewis, Clay Center, and Marian Hunter, Holcomb, Kansas. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 27, 2004, at 1:30 pm at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center with Rev. Merlin Kieffer and Rev. Loren Werth officiating. Burial Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center. Visitation 3:00-7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. A vigil service will be recited at 7:30 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
