Description	:	Glen L. Isaman, 85, of Vermillion, KS, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Frankfort Community Care Home, following a short battle with leukemia. Glen was born June 11, 1926 at Vliets, KS, son of Fred and Bernice (Martin) Isaman. He attended the Vermillion Schools until his senior year at the age 18 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. Isaman, 85, of Vermillion, KS, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Frankfort Community Care Home, following a short battle with leukemia. Glen was born June 11, 1926 at Vliets, KS, son of Fred and Bernice (Martin) Isaman. He attended the Vermillion Schools until his senior year at the age 18 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. While in the Army, he served in the Phillipines and Japan, after the bombing of Hiroshima. Upon returning home, he met and married Lois M. Fairchild on February 24, 1950. They shared 55 loving years together till her death in 2005. Glen worked for Marshall County as a Bridge Foreman and crane operator. Glen was a member of the American Legion, serving as a Honor Guard for 20 years. He was also a member of the Vermillion Christian Church. He served the community of Vermillion in many capacities, such as being the mayor, fireman, dog catcher, and was very active in the community club. Glen was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, hunting and many other outdoor activities. Survivors include his son, Michael Isaman, Topeka; five daughters, Sandy (Kenny) Vernon, Judy (Alva) Meade, and Marsha Isaman, all of Centralia, Connie (John) Smith, Manhattan, KS, and Brenda (Jeff) Branstetter, Kingman, KS; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lois; granddaughter, Karla Barnes; and his only brother, Robert Isaman. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 6 at the Vermillion School in Vermillion. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Vermillion City Cemetery.
