He was born March 18, 1926, in Davis County, Iowa, to Grant Wilson and Ethel Minerva Bonney Dial. He married VaDonna Marie Fullmer on March 31, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Dial, 89, of 9451 83rd St., died June 29, 2015, at his home. He was born March 18, 1926, in Davis County, Iowa, to Grant Wilson and Ethel Minerva Bonney Dial. He married VaDonna Marie Fullmer on March 31, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2014. Having grown up in western Wapello County, Glen served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had worked at the Bedford Foundry, at John Deere in Waterloo and at Chamberlain's in Waterloo. He owned and operated Glen Dial & Son Construction and he and his wife operated a fruit stand on Vine St. He was a member of Christiansburg United Methodist Church, where he was the oldest living member. He enjoyed working in his shop and on equipment. Glen enjoyed helping others, especially his neighbors. Surviving are four children, Glenda (Gene) Burrows of Bloomfield, Becky (Dan) Bodkins of Bloomfield, Carleton Dial of Ottumwa and Linda Sue (Pat) Shehan of Ottumwa; a former son-in-law, Verlin Holzhauser; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Fritz) Runnells, Crystal (Brad) Fisher, Jean (Nathan) Burchett, Lynn Burrows, Gayle Burrows-Bircher, Jesse Burrows, Jason Burrows, Theresa (Phil) Bargfrede and Melissa Holzhauser; four step-grandchildren, Brenda (Ed) Meester, Joanna (Tim) Sarver, Patricia (Scott) Johnson and Tim Shehan; 10 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Jaydee, Xavier, James, Jarett, Brycelynn, Carter, Cole, Sterling and Autumn; 10 step-great-grandchildren, Chase, Kylie, Emma, Ben, Xander, Slade, Dylan, Alex, Colin and Paisley. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Brystol Runnells; a step-great-granddaughter, Erica Sarver; two sisters, Maxine Olson and stillborn infant, Rose Dial; a brother, Gail Dial, and a brother-in-law, Vince Olson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with his grandson-in-law, Phil Bargfrede, officiating. Burial will be in Round Point Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa Hospice.
