The Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Nelson died Tuesday, March 11, at his home after a lingering illness. He was 65 years old. Glen Victor Nelson, son of Gustaf W. and Mary (Bister) Nelson, was born April 18, 1909, in the Wescott community near Comstock. He attended school at Wescott School Division #1 and then became actively engaged in farming, first helping his father, then in partnership with his brother, Walter, and later for himself. On October 21, 1935, he was united in marriage to Louise Sorenson of Arcadia. To this union four children were born: John Elwood of Denver, Colo., Glen Einer of Brighton, Colo., Lois Elaine Holmes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Nancy Louise of Spokane, Washington. Glen lived his entire life on the farm where he was born, having purchased the home place from his parents' estate in 1947. He took great pride in his family, his home and community, always ready to assist in any worthwhile project and always thinking of others. One of his latest projects, and one that will be an enduring memorial for many years, was his persuasion for improvement of the Douglas Grove cemetery of which he was a board member. He, together with his wife, Louise, and the help of Clarence Lenstrom and others, removed three sides of the old fence from the cemetery and erected new chain link fencing, while others of the community painted the wrought iron fence in front. To mourn his passing, he leaves his loving wife, Louise; four children; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Dwight of Martin, South Dakota, and Walter of Comstock; and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Rousek of Comstock, Mrs. Alex (Agnes) Olson of Martin, South Dakota, and Mrs. Francis (Dora) Newquist of Comstock. While he did not belong to any church, he was a walking testimonial in action and work. He reaffirmed his faith in God many times during his illness and waited patiently for the Lord to say "It's time now, come home."
