Richards, deceased was born February 13, 1902, on a farm near Geneva. He departed this life at Martland Saturday, August 2, 1947, at the age of 45 years, 5 months and 20 days. He spent his childhood near Geneva, attending rural school in District 12 and graduating from Geneva high school with the class of 1921. He was married to Dorothy Tatro January 2, 1924. She preceded him in death May 9, 1935. To this sacred union were born six children, Glen Darold, Dolores Mae, Frank Darlo, Doyle Arthur, Dorothy Devone and Donald Richard Ward. Besides these six children left to mourn his death are two brothers. Cecil of Grafton and Jesse of Geneva, and also a host of other relatives and friends. He was a kind, loving Christian father, His first thought being of his children. After the passing of his beloved wife he became both mother and father to them. Their needs became his needs, their cares his cares and their problems his problems. His sacrificial living on their behalf has caused them to love him very much and he will be long remembered in their lives. Mr. Richards' tragic and untimely death cast gloom over the entire community. The family home for a number of years was northwest of Geneva. About five years ago Mr. Richards purchased a farm a mile and three-quarters west and a half mile north of Martland and that is the present family home.
