Description	:	Glenn Clarence Fengel, 78, was born Dec. 18, 1915, at Villlsca, Iowa, to Julius and Myrtle Gale Fengel. He died Jan. 13, 1994. at Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. He attended school in Villisca and graduated from Villisca High School in 1933 then spent one year at Iowa Western Community College. He worked for Tyler Coal and Ice Company. He entered the National Guard as an Administrative Supply Technician just before the unit was called to active duty. He attended school in Villisca and graduated from Villisca High School in 1933 then spent one year at Iowa Western Community College. He worked for Tyler Coal and Ice Company. He entered the National Guard as an Administrative Supply Technician just before the unit was called to active duty. He was assigned to F Company, 2nd Battalion. 168th Infantry Regiment, 34th Division and served In Ireland, England, and North Africa. He was captured at Kasserine Pass in North Africa and was a POW almost three years. He remained in the National Guard and retired after serving 35 years. Mr. Fengel was married to Edna Delaney Sept. 10, 1947, at Omaha, Neb. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Villisca, the VFW and Villisca American Legion Post No. 251, holding offices in both organizations, and the POW’s of Southwest Iowa. He played golf and bowled and was active in all community affairs. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Edna of Villisca; his children Vicky, (husband Dr. Peter) Hollman of Cranston, R.I., John (wife Megan) Fengel of Ben Lomand, Calif., Joel (wife Anna) Fengel of Villisca, Gale (wife Deborah) Fengel of Riverton, Michelle Hawn of Villisca, and Tom (wife Jo Ellen) Fengel of Villisca; 12 grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Laura Fengel of San Leandro, Calif., and Leah Fengel of Scranton. Services were held Jan. 17 at the United Methodist Church in Villisca with Rev. Larry Reigel and Pastor Albert Baker officiating. Casket bearers were Doug Scott, John Clark, Glen Schafer. Danny Lindberg, Donald Baker, Dennis Bartz. Honorary casket bearers were Lyall Gage. Joe Shields, Wade Scholey, Wayne Spencer, Jerold Greenfield, Dick Strickland, Jim Milligan, Robert Dickey. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Military Rites were by American legion Post #251 of Villisca. Memorials have been established to the Community Buiiding/Fire Station and/or National Guard Museum.
