Description	:	Glenn Eugene "Gene" Thim, 80, died Thursday at his home south of Otis after a lengthy illness of emphysema. Thim was born Aug. 29, 1925, at DeNova to Tony H. and Vera Marie (Malcolm) Thim. He was born in the sod house his father homesteaded in 1910. He resided at the same place, except for the two years he spent in the Navy. He enlisted in the Navy in June of 1944 and was honorably discharged in April of 1946. Read More	Glenn Eugene "Gene" Thim, 80, died Thursday at his home south of Otis after a lengthy illness of emphysema. Thim was born Aug. 29, 1925, at DeNova to Tony H. and Vera Marie (Malcolm) Thim. He was born in the sod house his father homesteaded in 1910. He resided at the same place, except for the two years he spent in the Navy. He enlisted in the Navy in June of 1944 and was honorably discharged in April of 1946. Thim served in the South Pacific during W.W. II on the LST 1104. He attended the White Rose Grade School and graduated from High Prairie High School with the class of 1941. Thim married Maxine Crosier June 12, 1949. Thim was a chartered member of the Akron Elks #2569. He was an active member until his health failed him. He had 963 consecutive meetings and was honored many times for his accomplishments. He was a member of the Arickaree Lions for four years until they dissolved. He belonged to the Otis V.F.W. and the Akron American Legion. His interests were reading, dancing and visiting with his friends. His survived by his wife, Maxine; three sons, Eugene Jr. of Sidney, Neb., Keith of Greeley, and Stephen of Akron; one daughter, Rhonda Smith of Akron; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Leola Hooker and Wilma Salling and brother, Kenneth Thim. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Washington County Nursing Home, Otis Ambulance or Akron Elks. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Otis Cemetery . Interment will follow in the Otis Cemetery with Brenner Funeral Home of Akron handling the arrangements. Fort Morgan Times (CO) October 31, 2005
