Kenworthy of Grant and George Railsback, Jr. of Griswold are death as a result of week end automobile accident. One was injured near Glenwood and the other near Lewis. Glenn Kenworthy, 28, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Kenworthy of Grant, died Saturday night at 10 o’clock at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Glenn F. Kenworthy was born March 3, 1902 in Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska to Wilber Kenworthy and Elizabeth Ellenwood. He died July 14, 1928 in Montgomery County, Iowa. Railsback, 17, was the son of George Railsback, living four and a half miles northeast of Griswold and died at his home Saturday morning. He was the nephew of Wynn Railback of southwest of Villisca. Hits Concrete Wall Kenworthy, who went to Glenwood several months ago to take charge of the F. W. Bourck Garage, was on his way to Glenwood from a dance when he met with the accident at 1:15 a.m. which cost him his life. He was accompanied by Earl Ashbaugh, son of W. Ashbaugh of Grant, and by John Sprague, son of Mrs. Ida Spargue of Grant. The young men were driving rapidly in a Chevrolet Coupe, when they went into the viaduct under the Burlington Railroad a mile east of Glenwood and were unable to make the turn. When the brakes of the car were pushed on quickly, the machine crashed into a cement wall and turned over throwing the occupants underneath. Kenworthy’s chest and shoulders were crushed, his skull was fractured, and he was injured internally. He was taken immediately after the accident to the Jennie Edmundson Hospital where he died. Ashbaugh’s collar bone was broken and badly splinted in two places and the shoulder was bruised. He also was taken to the Jennie Edmundson Hospital where he is recovering. Sprague sustained sever bruises and minor injuries. He was able to return Saturday afternoon to his home in Grant. The car in which the young mender riding was driven to Glenwood by its own power, but is was badly wrecked. The body and top were practically demolished and a hind wheel was broken off. Glenn Kenworthy was born at Beatrice, Nebraska, but for the last twenty years he had lived at Grant. He farmed with his father and worked in the garage at Grant until last spring when he bought an interest in the garage in Glenwood in which he was interested in at the time of his death. Darl Ashbaugh and John Sprague were employed at the garage. Funeral services for Glen Kenworthy were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church in Grant with Rev. A. Breeling in charge.
