Read More	Glenn Helmer, 81, of Belle Fourche passed away at his home in Belle Fourche, surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Glenn Robert Helmer was born May 29, 1930 to W.A. "Bill" and Alma J. Helmer. He was raised on the Vincent and Jones place's. Glenn attended the Spring Creek rural school, Spearfish Normal, White rural school and the Belle Fourche school. He started working with his dad as a boy and has been farming and ranching for most of his life. Glenn was on the local ASCS Board for 9 years, serving 8 of those years as Chairman. Most recently he worked at the Belle Fourche Sale Barn for about 20 years until he retired due to health reasons. Glenn married Betty Jean Russell on June 18, 1950 at the Congregational Church in Belle Fourche. This was one of the first weddings performed by Reverend Glenn VanVactor in the newly finished sanctuary upstairs. To this union three children, Sandra Lynn, Jeffrey Rand and Jennifer Dee were born. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Belle Fourche and served as trustee for 6 years. He was a member of the Belle Fourche Masonic Lodge # 124 AF&AM. Glenn had a phenomenal memory for names and dates. He loved gardening, especially growing pumpkins. He enjoyed working with livestock and keeping up with livestock reports. His love of his family was demonstrated in his own "quiet" way. He had a very dry sense of humor and was not afraid to voice his opinion. He enjoyed watching the Judge shows on TV. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 61 years, Betty Jean Helmer of Belle Fourche; daughters, Sandra Lynn (Mike) Baker of St. Onge and Jennifer Dee (Robert) LeVee of Gillette; son, Jeffrey Rand (Deb) Helmer of Belle Fourche; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Derek) LeFebre, Tuula (Paul) Dadah, Abbey Helmer, Minna (Steve) Biehl, Mason LeVee and Brandan LeVee; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Ardyth) Helmer and Gary (Jean) Helmer all of Belle Fourche; sisters, Dorothy Umenthum of Belle Fourche, Dora (Jim) Hansen of Pierre and MaryLou (Mike) Hanify of Worland, WY; sisters-in-law, Ruth Helmer of Spearfish and Wilma Helmer of Renton, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Krista Baker; brothers, Raymond and LeRoy Helmer. Visitation will be Sunday, from Noon to 6:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Belle Fourche with Pastor Del Neumeister officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. The family suggests memorials to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, the Hospice of the Northern Hills or to Medical Research.
