(Fred) Lok , 82, died at his home in Barnesville on August 19, 2016. Fred was born August 29, 1933 in Heerlen, Netherlands, he was the son of the late Jochem and Wilhelmina Lok. Fred was a Pastry Chef in the family business until moving to the United States. He met his soon to be bride Mary White Hays through neighbors while she was visiting in the Netherlands with friends. They were married in November 9, 1957, and Fred then joined his wife's family business and became a farmer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary White Hays Lok. He also leaves behind his three daughters, Ineke Smallwood (Chip), Martha Ward (Bob), and Shirley Prasada-Rao (Sam) all of Barnesville; nine grandchildren Mary Kate Truesdale, Emily Schneider, and Abby Dunn, Benton, Curtis, and Adam Ward, Meitzy, Freddy, and Mina Prasada-Rao. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers all of the Netherlands, and one grandchild Daniel Ward. Fred will always be remembered for his love of family, the farm, and his many animals. He was an avid Hummingbird watcher, had a quick wit, and always had a joke to share. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he was a past member and past President of the Montgomery County Farmers Club, The Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers, and served on the Board of Directors of Farmers Co-op in Frederick, Maryland. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Mary's Catholic Church, and or Montgomery County 4-H.
