She attended high school in Glenwood. On Feb. 8, 1905, she was married to Louis Bass, a happy birthday present for Louis. Golda and Louis began housekeeping in Rawles Township. They moved to the land where Louis' father had farmed, the same property that was in the family since 1880, and is now owned by their son, Austin Bass. Louis and Golda were the parents of son Austin, and daughter Maxine who died at birth in 1911. They moved to Glenwood in 1957. Louis passed away in 1969. Golda continued to live alone until September 1972 when she became a resident of Nishna Cottage Rest Home in Malvern. She passed away at the Rest Home on Feb. 19, 1975. As a young girl, Golda joined the United Brethren Church at Pleasant Ridge. She later joined the Malvern Baptist Church. In 1957 she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenwood where her membership remained to the time of her death. It was at Glenwood that she became active in the Kensington and Mission Circles of Baptist Women. Golda was a long-time membeer of the Highland Sewing Circle. She was an expert gardener. Her "green thumb" was evident in the beautiful flower garden she cultivated outside her home during springs and summers, and inside during winters. Golda was a good friend and she knew no strangers, Her interest in remembering and anniversaries kept Mills County post offices busy. A good neighbor, Golda was continually sharing her neverending supply of cookies with neighborhood children. She is survived by son Austin Bass and wife, Louise, grandson Richard bass and wife, Sherry, great grandson Douglas Bass, all of Malvern, and sister, Mrs. Viva Fireoved of Glenwood. One sister, Mrs. Jeanette Vinton, preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Mansfield Funeral Home Friday, Feb. 21, at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. Clyde W. Harmon, officiating. Musical selections "It Is No Secret" and "How Great Thou Art" were played by organist Warren Darrah. Caring for the flowers were Mrs. Frank Burdick, Mrs. Frank Dashner, Mrs. Leo Hopp and Mrs. Marie Myers, and Mrs. Charles Wilson tended the registry book. Casket bearers were Charles Wilson, D. D. Davis, Donald D. Bruce, Lyle Gaylord, Frank Burdick and Max Vinton. Interment was in the Malvern cemetery."
