Menges was born in Floyd County Indiana, May 2, 1990, and passed away at the Pawnee Manor Nursing home on July 2, 1966. Her early childhood was spent in Greenville, Indiana and at the age of 12, she, with her parents moved to Auburn, Nebr. She was graduated from Auburn high school in 1908 and taught school in that area. On December 25, 1910 she was united in marriage to John B. McFerrin of Auburn, Nebr. To this union four children were born. Ruth Kerl of Pawnee City, Nebraska, Dale of Freeport, Illinois, David of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Harold of Eugene, Oregon. In 1923 the family moved to a farm in Pawnee County where they lived until her husbands death in 1932. On July 18, 1938, Mrs. McFerrin and Z. C. Foster were married in Bakersfield, California and they resided in Kernville, California until Mr. Fosters death in 1959, after which she sold her home in California and came to Pawnee to live near her daughter. She was a charter member of the new Baptist Church in Kernville, California, later transferring her membership to the Baptist Church in Pawnee City. One brother, Sidney, preceded her in death. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Anna Ruark of St. Petersburg, Florida; a brother David of Brooksville, Florida, besides her four children, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren to mourn her passing. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Pawnee City on Saturday, June , 10 a.m. with Rev. R. B. Shoemaker officiating. Mrs. Byford Metzger and Mrs. Richard Turnbull sang, accompanied by Ruth Shoemaker. Pallbearers were Adrian Collar, John Amos, Will Inglis, David Gregary, Herman Tegtmeier and Harold Thiemann. Burial was in the Pawnee City Cemetery.
