Read More	Glendive, Montana: Gordon Howard Sanders passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive, Montana at the age of 85. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Gordon was born on the family farm outside of Lambert, Montana on July 23, 1927, the second eldest of eight children born to Howard and Lalia (Smith) Sanders. He was raised on the farm and attended country school. After his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1948, he met and married Ethelyn Woodworth and together they had one daughter, Gordyne. They later divorced and he married Ruby Hoeffner. In Butte, he worked for the Anaconda Co. and then for the Department of Highways. He and Ruby moved to Geraldine for a brief period in the early 60's and returned for good in 1965. Gordon worked for Choteau County in the Geraldine maintenance shop and later for the City of Geraldine. He was a member of the American Legion Painter Brothers Post #102 and held the position of commander for a number of years. He truly enjoyed the various functions the Legion put on, especially the 'smokers' for their members. After retirement they returned to Gordon's original stomping grounds of Sidney, Montana. Ruby preceded him in death in 2008. In 2011 he moved to Sunrise Manor, an assisted living home in Savage and most recently, the Eastern Montana Veteran's Home in Glendive. He was baptized into the First Lutheran Church by Pastor Nell, whom he considered a very dear friend. Some of Gordon's favorite pastimes were playing cards, gardening and refinishing furniture. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years and his various trips to Washington, Oregon and Alaska. He made many friends wherever he lived and kept in contact. He was an excellent grandpa and papa to his grandchildren. Many fond, happy memories and special moments will be held in our hearts forever. Gordon went out of his way to keep in contact by calling each of us on our birthday. We appreciated him for the genuine person he was and he will be missed greatly by the many people who loved him. He is survived by one brother, Buck of Savannah, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Barb of Sidney and Frances of Missoula, Montana; daughter, Gordyne; step-children, Bonnie of Gillette, Wyoming, Lois of Olympia, Washington, and Larry of Mitchell, South Dakota; grandchildren, Raeann, Jolynn, Jenny, Jared, Heather, Nikki and Cameron and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and interment of his cremated remains will be in the Geraldine Cemetery on a date to be announced at a later time. 49195736-links to psarnts
