Description	:	Gordon N. Mathiasen, 83, of Minden died Monday, July 31, 2006, at his home. Memorial services were held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial of cremains was at Minden Cemetery. He was born June 25, 1923, in Kearney County to Frederick and Emma (Borgaard) Mathiasen. On Jan. 20, 1946, he married Margaret Laux south of Minden. Burial of cremains was at Minden Cemetery. He was born June 25, 1923, in Kearney County to Frederick and Emma (Borgaard) Mathiasen. On Jan. 20, 1946, he married Margaret Laux south of Minden. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Nadine Hopkins of Minden; and sister, Margaret Quick of Minden. Additional survivors include his son-in-law, Alvin Hopkins of Minden; grandchildren, Anthony Hopkins of Aurora, Colo., and Angela Spaulding and her husband, Clint, of Hastings; niece, Karen Wiegert and her husband, Keith; and nephews, Ronnie Nielsen and his wife, Barbara, and Lyle Nielsen and his wife, Alice. He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He began working for the Nebraska Department of Roads in 1947 and worked there until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed bowling, his work with the state, yard work and Nebraska football. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
