Description	:	Grace Zimmerman, 92, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. She was born on January 29, 1922 on a farm east of Pickrell and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She attended Sunnyhill Country School, graduated from Beatrice High School in 1940 and attended Peru State Teachers College for three years. She married Elmer R. She was born on January 29, 1922 on a farm east of Pickrell and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She attended Sunnyhill Country School, graduated from Beatrice High School in 1940 and attended Peru State Teachers College for three years. She married Elmer R. Zimmerman on August 18, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and they lived and farmed east of Beatrice. She taught school for 11 years in Gage County and then worked for the State of Nebraska as a social worker and administrative assistant for 21 years, retiring in 1987. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice where she belonged to the quilting group and the Women of ELCA where she held several offices. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a member of Contented Gal's Extension Club, teacher's organizations, Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed visiting family and friends, gardening, cooking, playing cards, sewing and volunteer work. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Orwen of Beatrice; one son, Elmer Zimmerman, Jr. and wife Dianne of Beatrice; three granddaughters, Jeanne Clavijo and husband James of Miami, FL, Peggy Ford and husband Avery of Denver, CO and Lisa Hostetler and husband Shawn of Pickrell; six great-grandchildren, Brandy, Beau, Ainsley, Kaitlyn, Corino and Sophia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Busboom Ehmen; her husband Elmer, who died on October 24, 1993; four brothers, Bill, John, Henry and Thees Ehmen; two sisters, Emma Lienemann and Teda Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice with Pastor Chuck Bentjen officiating. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Mildred Fossler and Arnold and Doris Jurgens in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. Saturday to 9:00 P.M. Monday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Tuesday. The family will meet and greet family and friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
