Grace was born August 29, 1931 to Irving and Ruth (Runeberg) Peterson in Centerville, S.D. Edith Peterson, step-mother, was mom since her mother died when she was 3. Read More	Grace Jeanette Lind, 77, of Beresford, S.D. died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Bethesda of Beresford Care Center. Grace was born August 29, 1931 to Irving and Ruth (Runeberg) Peterson in Centerville, S.D. Edith Peterson, step-mother, was mom since her mother died when she was 3. She attended rural school near the family farm and Centerville High School. Following high school, she moved to Sioux City Iowa, where she worked for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for two years. Then she moved to Sioux Falls for a short time. While living in Sioux Falls, she met the love of her life, Sterling, and after a few months, they were married, and began their life together on the family farm. Three children, Doug, Greg, and Lori were born and the family stayed on the family farm, except for an 18 months stay in Phoenix, A.Z. until Sterling and Grace moved into an apartment in Beresford in the summer of 2008. Grace loved reading books, and worked as a librarian at both the Vermillion High School Library and the USD I.D. Weeks Library until she retired in 1996. Grace's dearest loves were her children, grandchildren, her friends, and her church. Her favorite times were spent with Sterling planting gardens, and flowers, playing with grandchildren, playing cards, and drinking coffee with her close friends and neighbors and doing whatever needed to be done at the church. Her faith in God was where her strength came from and the foundation of her life. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Irving & Ruth Peterson, her step-mother, Edith Peterson, her brother, Leslie, and her husband, Sterling. She is survived by her children, Doug, Greg (Cheryl) Lind, and Lori (Jon) Eckrich, grandchildren, Leigh, Maria, and Erin Eckrich, Cody (Janet), Elizabeth, and John Lind, a step-great-granddaughter, Valerie Weishaar; three brothers, Elwood (Dolly) Peterson, Don (Virginia) Peterson, and Arnie (Glennyce) Peterson, two sisters-in-law, Judy Peterson, and Barb (Dean) Ubben. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24th with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion, with Rev. Kwen Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery.
