She was born on November 15, 1924, to Roy and Ethel (Pierce) Mathias. She was baptized at Ellis Methodist Church on June 14, 1936 by minister L. A. Fishel. She was confirmed June 9, 1946 by Rev. R. T. Mueller at Bouton (Iowa) Lutheran Church. Grace attended grade school at Ellis District 147. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942. Holtmeier, 82, Beatrice, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at Parkview Center, Beatrice, Nebraska. She was born on November 15, 1924, to Roy and Ethel (Pierce) Mathias. Grace attended grade school at Ellis District 147. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942. After graduation she taught school at District 106 south of Ellis for 2 ½ years. She married Gerald Holtmeier on April 17, 1943 when he was home on leave from the Navy. They lived in New York City for 3 months while his ship was docked for repairs. After Gerald was discharged from the Navy they moved to Nevada, Iowa to farm. Later they bought a farm near Adel, Iowa. They then moved to Hollenburg, Kansas. While at Hollenburg, Kansas, Gerald's sister, Marilyn, lived with them for three years while she attended high school. They also made their home and farmed in the DeWitt and Diller areas. She moved to Beatrice after Gerald's passing. Grace was a farmwife and homemaker. She enjoyed crafts and playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a past extension club member, President of Church Women, and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. in Beatrice and also a member of the DeWitt Legion Auxiliary Legion Unit #212 for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Diller, Nebraska. Officiating: Pastor Mark Liscom. Burial: Priarie Home Cemetery, Rural Diller, Nebraska. Visitation: Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.; Friday from 8:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M.; and at the church one hour preceding the service. Memorial established to St. Paul Lutheran, Diller, Nebraska, with the mortuary in charge. A register book is available online at http://www.harmanwrightmortuary.com .
