Gillis on Oct. 26, 1919, at Glen Haven, WI to Ora and Donnah A. (Hoffman) Gillis. Hatmaker, 80, a 71-year resident of Leavenworth, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2000, in Central Washington Hospital. She was born Grace M. Gillis on Oct. 26, 1919, at Glen Haven, WI to Ora and Donnah A. (Hoffman) Gillis. In 1929, the family moved to Leavenworth, where she grew up and received her education, graduating from Leavenworth High School in 1938. On July 1, 1939, she married Roy B. Hatmaker at Leavenworth, where they made their home and raised their family. While raising their daughters, Grace served as a Campfire Leader and she also took great pleasure in gardening, hiking and fishing. She followed the Cascade High School sports and other activities and also enjoyed doing all types of needlework crafts. She was a member of the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; Leavenworth Senior Citizen Center; Leavenworth Golf Club and the Bavarian Volksport. Grace is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Russ Ferg of Leavenworth; two sisters, Lea Franklin of Lynnwood and Jane Brender of Seattle; one brother, William Gillis of Monmouth, OR; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy on Feb. 6, 1999, an infant son, an infant daughter and one sister, Vi Stevens. A Memorial Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Grace Hatmaker, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2000, in the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Lindsy Ireland officiating. Interment was in the Mt. View Cemetery. Friends who wish, may make a memorial in her name to the Leavenworth Senior Citizen Building Fund or the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
