Friends will remember Mr. Long was injured by driving in the Nodaway river July 29, 1911, and striking his head and shoulders. Read More	DIED IN VILLISCA Grover Long died at his hoe in Villisca Wednesday morning, November 12, 1913 at 11:05 o’clock, after an illness of over two years. Friends will remember Mr. Long was injured by driving in the Nodaway river July 29, 1911, and striking his head and shoulders. From the injury he was paralyzed in the lower limbs and for a long time after the accident his life was despaired of, but his strong constitution and determination to live kept him here until the date mentioned. He was given every care and the best physicians treated him. After an operation in Chicago last year he was able to sit for a time but a severe cold caused a sudden change for the worse ad he suffered terribly the last two weeks. He was very patient and had many admiring friends. Funeral series were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. J. W. Taylor, of the Corning M. E. Church formerly of Villisca. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Grover Long was born near Nodaway, Iowa, April 11, 1884, being 29 years, 7 months, and 1 day old at the time of his death. Hie parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor Long resided very Iveyville. October 21, 1922, MR. Long was married to Pearl Shepherd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Shepherd, residing one mile west of Villisca. He and his bride located in Villisca, which was his home when the accident occurred which cause his death. To Mr. and Mrs. Long three children were born, Emma, Paul, and Gerald. The latter died in infancy and is buried in the Villisca Cemetery. Mr. Long leaves beside his wife, two children, his parents, three brothers, Burr, Harvey, and Tandy Long of near Iveyville; two sisters, Miss Jessie Long, residing with her parents and Mrs C. T. Marquis of Marshfield, Missouri, also a large number of other relatives and friends to mourn his demise.
