Description	:	Gustav Hermann Peters, 91, Maple Grove Home, died June 22, 1997. He was born July 20, 1905 to Henry and Louise (Geweke) Peters in the family home near Elk Creek. He was received into the Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, August 13, 1905 administered at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, by Pastor Grupe. He was born July 20, 1905 to Henry and Louise (Geweke) Peters in the family home near Elk Creek. He was received into the Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, August 13, 1905 administered at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, by Pastor Grupe. His baptismal sponsors were Gustav Peters, Herman Beethe, and Herman Geweke. He attended the Beethe School, District #30, rural Pawnee County, and St. Peter's Lutheran School, rural Elk Creek. He was confirmed in the christian faith at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on May 11, 1919, by Pastor Grupe. His confirmation verse was Matthew 24:13. He was a member of St. Peter's congregation all of his life. Gustav was married to Agnes Firnhaber on May 24, 1944 with Pastor Worthman officiating. To this union two children were born, son, Lonny, and daughter, Pamela. Gus always loved the farm life and working with cattle. He was a very hard worker and a loving father. He lived on the home farm near Elk Creek with Agnes until March 1979, when they moved to Elk Creek. In August 1993, he was moved to Maple Grove Home after a bad fall. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; two brothers, Ernest and William; and three sisters, Clara Buethe, Ella Rambat, and Laura Buethe. Those left to mourn his passing are son, Lonny, and wife, Mary of Elk Creek; daughter, Pamela, and fiance, Brett Cox, of Omaha; grandchildren, Lisa and Michael Peters of Elk Creek; sister-in-law, Ruth Schuelke, of Wellman, Iowa; and many other friends and relatives. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, 1997 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, with Reverend Robert Shermbeck officiating. Pallbearers were John Rambat, Eldon Buethe, Royce Peters, LeRoy Peters, Jeff Peters, Curtis Peters, Michael Buethe, Milton Buethe, and Kenneth Buethe. Flower ladies were Shelia Peters and Esther Buethe. Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Elk Creek. (The Pawnee Republican, Pawnee City, Nebr.-July 3, 1997)
