Read More	Gwendolyn Marker Bankson 1913 - 2008 Gwendolyn Marker Bankson Sept. 9, 1913 - Apr. 29, 2008 Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Gwendolyn Marker Bankson, age 94, died peacefully April 29, 2008 in her son's home at California Hot Springs, CA after a long and memorable life. She was born September 9, 1913 in the town of Greensville, Darke County, Ohio to the late Lewis Hiram Marker and Myrtle Roll Marker, and graduated from Greenville High School in 1931. Her family's American genealogy traces back to Jan Mangelese Roll, a Dutch trader who arrived in what is now Albany, NY in 1656; and Paul Marker, a Lutheran Minister who arrived in Myersville, Maryland in 1763. Gwen was united in marriage to Harold Bankson August 31, 1935. She and her husband Harold came to Bakersfield in 1947. He was a scholar, bricklayer, Licensed Building Contractor, and was the Representative of Bricklayers International Union for Kern, Inyo, Mono, Tulare and Monterey Counties. After their children had grown, Gwen entered the sales field. Always a stylish lady with a flair for elegant clothes, fabrics and colors, she worked in clothing sales for Brewers Westchester, Brocks and Busacca Boutique of Stockdale. In later years her growing family became the focus of her life and love. Surviving are her sons, Rodney A. Bankson and wife, Patti of California Hot Springs, and Dennis M. Bankson and wife, Sharon of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Brent Bankson, Shanie Bankson, Jonathan Bankson, Nicholas Bankson, Christi Burt Frasch Anthony, John Burt and Daniel Burt; great- grandchildren, Victoria Bankson, Sean Bankson, Caitlin Frasch, Richard Frasch IV, McKenna Frasch, Hannah Burt, Hudson Burt, and Kate Bankson; and Gwen's younger sister, Joanna Schmermund of Greenville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold, daughter, Sharon Elaine Burt, sisters, Marge, Francis, Helen, Mary, and brother, Dan. A private memorial service will be held by the family with interment in Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Gwen's memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
