Gwen, as she was best known, was raised in Concordia with brothers Howard, James, Jack, Bob, William and sisters Helen, Ruth, Buena, Alberta, Yvonne, Fern, Phyllis and Patty. She died January 4, 2017, in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 77. Gwen, as she was best known, was raised in Concordia with brothers Howard, James, Jack, Bob, William and sisters Helen, Ruth, Buena, Alberta, Yvonne, Fern, Phyllis and Patty. Gwen was a graduate of the Concordia High School class of 1957. She was quite popular in high school and participated in many school activities including being a member of the Hurkaru yearbook editorial staff and being a cheerleader. Gwen married Donald A. Jasperson on January 31, 1958. The couple lived for many years in Clay Center, Kansas and during this time became the parents of son Randall Dewaine and daughter Carrie Ann. She was employed by Southwestern Bell for 38 years and was Business Office Manager. She was a member of Southwestern Bell Pioneer Group, VFW Auxiliary and the Belmont Boulevard Christian Church in Salina. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents and brothers Howard and James and by sisters Helen Plumly, Ruth Moore, Buena Reed, Alberta Lanoue, Yvonne Snyder and Fern Clark. She is survived by son Randall and wife Debra and by daughter Carrie Ann Laflin and husband Todd, brothers Jack and wife Pauline, Bob and wife Betty and William and wife Karen, also sisters Phyllis Koster and husband Henry, Patty Smith and husband Paul, also sister-in-law Eva Strait. Gwen has eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 7, 2017 at the Belmont Boulevard Christian Church in Salina, followed by gravesite service and burial alongside husband Don in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia. Nutter Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
