Bunker was born in Madison county, Indiana, January 17, 1847, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alva Huff west of Valley Falls, Kansas, July 8, 1914, aged 67 years, 4 months and 21 days. She came to Kansas in 1870 and on March 14, 1871 was married to Mr. Jesse Walker. To their union were born six children--four boys and two girls. Bunker was born in Madison county, Indiana, January 17, 1847, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alva Huff west of Valley Falls, Kansas, July 8, 1914, aged 67 years, 4 months and 21 days. She came to Kansas in 1870 and on March 14, 1871 was married to Mr. Jesse Walker. To their union were born six children--four boys and two girls. They made their home three and one-half miles northwest of Valley Falls where they resided for 36 years and where Mr. Walker died February 15, 1905. After the death of her husband she came to Valley Falls to make her home. Affliction came to her and she broke up housekeeping and spent her last days with her children. Shortly after the Christmas time she was taken very sick but grew better again till about three weeks ago she became worse and gradually grew worse till last Friday the 3rd of July when hopes of her recovery were given up by her physician and loved ones. She leaves four children--two sons, Ed and Frank Walker, and two daughters, Mrs. Elmer McComas and Mrs. Alva Huff, of Valley Falls--two sons having gone with her husband before her; three brothers, and two sisters, including John Bunker and Mrs. Lydia Walker of Valley Falls, and W.E. Bunker of Holton and another sister and brother living in Indiana, and eight grandchildren to mourn for her, and a host of friends who loved her dearly. Twenty-four years ago she confessed The Christ and became a member of the congregation of the Christian church in Valley Falls. Her Christian life was an open book of kindness, goodness and faithfulness to the Church and to all she met. Patient and uncomplaining, she bore up under the pain of rheumatism and was cheerful through it all. To the last she folded her faith in Christ to her heart, believing "That He was able to keep that which she had committed unto Him." And as the morning hours were lengthening into full day, she "Passed with the Boatman cold and pale, To the better short of the Spirit Land," leaving with her loved ones the assurance of a reunion beyond the skies. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Friday afternoon, July 10th, at 3 p.m., by Rev. Chas. H. Kimball and interment was had in Rose Hill cemetery. A large gathering of friends and old neighbors present to show their respect to their friend and give their sympathy to the bereaved. Card of Thanks.
