Read More	Link to mother sent by Jennifer McKenzie, #47467858 ******************** Glasco Sun, April 7, 1905, page 2: Obituary of Mrs. Hannah Butler Hannah Hicks Butler was born October 30, 1829, near Morrow, Ohio, and died March 29, 1905, at the home which was established in the spring of 1870, two and one-half miles south of Glasco, Kansas. Deceased was married to Abram Butler November 7, 1852, at their native place in Ohio, and they lived a happy and contented life until the year 1887, when the husband was called to the better land. To them seven children, four sons and three daughters, were born. Of these three remain -- Edward, Walter and Frank. The latter lives at Orange, California, and could not be present at the funeral. There were five grandchildren, of whom three survive. She united with the Presbyterian church at Glasco in 1876, and was always a consistent member and exemplary Christian, doing her duty towards God and his children in an obedient, loving, tender way that endeared her to all. People praise her goodness of heart, and the remaining children bless her dear memory for what she was to them. The alabaster box of precious ointment was poured upon each one of the family and its fragrance will ever remain. Her long sickness was borne with a patience which came from her Savior, in whom she found her chiefest comfort and joy. To stay with her loved ones, or to go and be with Christ, she was willing to leave with her Lord to arrange. The funeral took place on march 30, 1905, and, although the day was disagreeable with wind and dust, yet the high estimation in which the deceased was held was evidenced by the large attendance at the services held in her memory at the house and at the Presbyterian church of Glasco. She was laid to rest in Glasco's beautiful cemetery, beside her husband and others who were dear to her in life. The children and other relatives return their thanks to all who were helpful in her long illness, and for the respect, sympathy and love shown at the funeral. ---B.F.M.
