She had been afflicted with cancer and endured much suffering for several months past but retained her mental powers to the last and gave many directions as to the funeral and other matters. She had been afflicted with cancer and endured much suffering for several months past but retained her mental powers to the last and gave many directions as to the funeral and other matters. Hannah Kise was born near Jersey City, New Jersey in 1820 and with her parents moved to Indiana near Indianapolis, where she remained until at the age of 20 she was married to Garnet Hayden. The young couple moved at once to Andrew County, Missouri, thence to Lee County, Iowa. To them four children were born, three sons and one daughter. Four years after the death of Mr. Hayden, she was married to William Lewis and to this union one son, Andrew was born. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis came to Villisca about eight years ago. When the deceased was 12 years old she joined the M. E. Church and to the close of her life was a faithful, earnest Christian. She seemed to have a perfect assurance of a home beyond this world and went through the weary days and nights of pain, buoyed up by this blessed hope. Her husband (In his 93rd years) and one son are left behind .t home to mourn the departed. Other relatives present at the closing hours were Mr. and Mrs. Noah Hayden of West Grove, Iowa, and Misses Mary and Emma Tuttle. Prof. C. E. Hayden arrived from Moulton only in time for the funeral. The funeral services occurred Thursday and were conducted at the house by Rev. Hohanshelt. The family and relatives of the late Mrs. Hannah Lewis do herby express their sincere gratitude to the kind friends who so faithfully assisted them during the illness and death of their loved one.
