Stratford Courier December 3, 1942 Mrs. Albert Olson Last rites for Mrs. Albert Olson were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the family home south of town and at 2 o'clock in the Lutheran church. The Rev. C.S. Erickson, pastor of the Lutheran church of which deceased was a member, was in charge of both services. He was assisted at the church service by the Rev. C.S. Schmidt, pastor of the Stanhope Church of Christ, who read the scripture, offered prayer and made a few remarks. The Rev. Mr. Erickson used for his theme, "The Great Shepherd of Our Souls", taking his text from words found in John 3:14 and 15, and Psalms 23:1. The Berglund sisters trio sang "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me," "In the Garden" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Following the services the remains were interred in Oakwood [South Marion] cemetery, the following being the casket bearers: Rudy Hubner, Verne Olofson, J.R. Gustafson, John Sonksen, Leonard Runn, Lloyd Anderson. Hannah Marie Malmberg, only daughter of John and Matilda (Carlson) Malmberg, was born on the home farm, a mile south of Stanhope Oct. 18, 1889, and died in the county hospital in Webster City, Nov. 24, 1942, at the age of 53 years, 1 month, 2 days. Mrs. Olson had not enjoyed good health for some years and a number of weeks before her death was a patient in a hospital in Des Moines. She was recovering nicely until an appendectomy was performed in the county hospital two weeks before her death. She was making a nice recovery from that operation when there was a sudden change in her condition which brought about her death. She grew to young womanhood on the farm and continued to live there until 1927 when she moved to Stanhope. On March 22, 1928, she was married to Albert Olson, of Stratford, and they moved to a farm near town which had since been their home. Surviving is her sorrowing husband and two brothers, Arthur and Elmer Malmberg of Stanhope. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Albert, who died in France during World War I.
