Birth certificate for Hans Friedrick Moller Frenzen, in German, states he was born September 3, 1853 in Pahlhorn. His father was Haumannes Hinrick Frenzen and his mother was Cacilie Moller. Stamped in 1855. Hinrick and Cacilie had 9 children: Margarethe, Hans, Catharina, Wiebke, Anna, Maria, Frenz, Wilhelmine, and Hinrich. At least three of their children - Hans, Margarethe and Wiebke moved to America. Ship record: Hans Franzen born about 1850, male, 29, departing Hamburg via LaHavre France for New York. Hans Frenzen was a farmer and also a saloon keeper in Aspinwall, IA. Marriage certificate indicates he was married by Rev. A. Haar at the Lutheran Church in Dennison, Crawford Co., IA, May 4, 1881. 1880 Federal Census for Crawford Co., Iowa taken June 7 &8, 1880 - Hans Frenzen 30 born about 1850 in Germany. Marital status as single. Mother and father's birth place as Germany. Hans Frenzen bought lot 18, block 11 March 31, 1883 for $50 from Milwaukee Land Company. The deed was finalized Aug. 24, 1883. Jack Frenzen thinks this was the land where the beer parlor was built. (Jack Frenzen said the old beer parlor location is south and west of the current bar.) Hans Frenzen's application to be a US citizen is dated April 1, 1884. He is 31 yrs old. On July 31, 1885, lot 18 block 11 was sold for $1000 to Henry Kuhl, whose wife, Wiebke Frenzen Kuhl was Hans' sister. 1885 Iowa State census - Hans Frenzen, Aspinwall, Crawford Co., Iowa born abt 1853 in Germany. Profession - Saloon. Other members Celia 23, Henry 3, Louis 0, Maragret Frenzen 34 (his sister). Next door are the Kuhls - John H. 53m , married, Abel 53f, Julins 17m. All born in Germany August 19, 1886, from the Manning Monitor newspaper...."H. Fransen had a refreshment stand" This was quoted in the Aspinwall 1882-1982 historical book found in the Manning Library, p. 35. Hans moved to Central City, Nebraska in 1888. His wife,Celia Grage, had a sister or brother who lived there. From the book; "Fullerton's First 100 Years" page 143 Hans Frenzen was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on September 3, 1853. He came to America in 1879 at the age of 26 years. He was married in 1880 in Manilla, Iowa to Celia Grage. They came to Nebraska and settled on a farm north of Central City, Nebraska, where they lived for 13 years. Then Mr. Frenzen brought his family to Nance County, Nebraska in 1901. They settled on a farm 5 1/2 miles northwest of Fullerton, Nebraska onto a beautiful farm nestled under the Bluffs to the west of it, and with the lazy Cedar River winding on its way along the east side. There were 497 acres of land in this farm with part of it in pasture and the rest in good rich farm land. It was irrigated out of the Cedar river. To this union were born eight children: Louis, Henry, Frank, Edward, Anna, Emma, Lavida and Arthur. Mrs. Hans Frenzen was born March 4, 1862 and died on February 25, 1906. Louis, was born Sept. 12, 1884 and died between 1888 and 1890. He is buried near Central City, NE.
