Burial was in the Midway Cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Hans Peter Hamann, son of Fred and Lena Hamann, was born April 29, 1891, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He came to the U.S. with his parents shortly after birth, settling in Sac Co., Iowa. Later the family moved to Ida County for a few years before settling in the Midway community about 1893. Mr. Hamann farmed in the Midway area until 1943 when he retired from farming and moved into Anthon where he remained the rest of his life. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Midway. He was a past director of the Manilla Independent School District of Rock Township and past president of that board. He married Henriette Zellmer on February 25, 1914, at Moville. They had six children. Survivors include the widow, Hattie, of Anthon, three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Mildred) Fitchner of Moville, Mrs. Archie (Margaret) Milligan of Correctionville and Mrs. Alvin (Marian) Rippke of Moville, two sons, John of Correctionville and William of Battle Creek, a brother Frank of Anthon, three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Goettsch of Anthon, Mrs. Rose Wigand of Ida Grove and Mrs. Anna (Merten) Sengelmann of Denver, Colorado, 20 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, a son Alfred, three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
