Mr. Hamann died of a brief illness in a Sioux City hospital on December 19, 1975. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Midway, under direction of Walter Funeral Home of Anthon. Mr. Hamann was born February 4, 1915, at Lawton, Iowa. He married Margaret Kelsheimer December 14, 1941, near Battle Creek. A lifelong resident of the Anthon-Battle Creek area, he farmed ten miles east of Anthon. He was the first vice president of the St. Paul Cemetery association in Morgan Twp. and clerk of Morgan Township. He was active in 4-H work as a leader and county councilman for 20 years. He was a trustee and former elder of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was president of the church fellowship club and of the Lutheran Layman's League. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Virginia) Lensch III of Alexandria, Virginia; three sons, Gary of Tehran, Iran; Wayne of Sioux City and Steven of Battle Creek; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Henrietta Hamann of Anthon; a brother, John of Correctionville; and three sisters, Mrs. Wayne Fitchner and Mrs. Alvin Rippke, both of Moville, and Mrs. Archie Milligan of Anthon. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
