He was born July 28, 1886, the son of Sherman Morris and the former Mattie C. Harlan, on the farm N.E. of Stockport. After attending Drake University, Des Moines, and the University of Chicago; he was married to Rachel C. Henderson on February 23, 1912, in Chicago, where they lived for some years.
