Stork, 90 Sang with St. Paul’s choir for more than 40 yrs He was a veteran Harlan W. E. Stork was born Aug. 31, 1921, on the family farm west of Blair, NE to August and Marie (Kruger) Stork. He was a 1939 graduate of Arlington High School where he was an All-State baseball player, and attended the University of California. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Oct. 20, 1942, to Jan. 16, 1946, and served in the Ardennes, Rhineland and central Europe. On June 25, 1944, he married Fern Hoegemeyer in Lyons, NE. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm west of Blair. When Mr. Stork retired in 1986, they moved into Arlington, NE. Mr. Stork had lived at Arbor Manor in Fremont for the last 4 ½ years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington where he was chairman, elder, trustee, Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir for more than 40 years. He also sang with the Pathfinder Chorus. He had received the Ak-Sar-Ben Farm Family Award for ownership of the same farm for more than 100 years. Harlan W. E. Stork, 90, of Fremont, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Left with memories are his wife, Fern; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Stork of Omaha, and Landal Stork and Uta Crompton of Foster City, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Twyla and David Wells of Omaha, and Anita Stork and Judge Richard Ulmer of Hillsborough, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Stork; and sisters, Viola Dunklau and an infant sister. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, Nov. 25, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church Friday. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington, with military honors conducted by members of V.F.W. Post 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Home Budget or to Lutheran Church Missouri Synod World Missions.
