He was born August 18, 1927, in Crofton, Nebraska, to Paul and Lizzie Jacob, the last child in a very large family of seven boys and three girls. Read More	Harland E. Jacob August 18, 1927 – June 6, 2012 Harland E. Jacob, our dear husband, father, and grandfather, died at his home on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, of causes incident to age. He was born August 18, 1927, in Crofton, Nebraska, to Paul and Lizzie Jacob, the last child in a very large family of seven boys and three girls. He was raised on the farm until the end of World War II when he was drafted into the Navy. The war ended just as his papers cleared, and he was called home to care for the farm of his ill and elderly parents. In the fall of 1949, he attended a town barbeque where he met Ruth Ann Chase. He was totally smitten by his Ruthie, and they became engaged at Christmas and married on June 4, 1950. They just celebrated 62 years of being together and will continue their love through eternity. After leaving the farm in 1953, they moved to Yankton, SD where Harland worked for JCPenney. The family moved to several locations with his employment, finally coming to Grand Junction in 1965. He co-founded "Inside Story Flooring" with his son in 1981, and worked tirelessly at their business, even after "retiring". Harland and Ruth have four children, Kathy Ann (Pascual) Ramirez; Michael Harland (Wreadith) Jacob; Jean Jacob, and Todd Myrl (Jan) Jacob. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and all their spouses. Grandpa cared for and loved his family and anyone else who needed his kind and gentle attention. All who loved him will remember his wonderful example, his quiet humor, and his tender care. A true Rockies and Broncos fan, he loved watching all the baseball games-professional, high school, Little League, JUCO, and reruns of games on TV. Memorial Days were spent with his family gathered to picnic and attend JUCO. He was a 40 year member of the Lions Club and provided much service through this organization. He was also a member of Canyon View Vineyards Church. He is a devoted Christian and always lived his life to please the Lord. A Celebration of Life will be held at Canyon View Vineyards Chapel, 736 24 1/2 Rd., Grand Junction, at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12.
