Injuries received in a two car collision on County road A, between Center Junction and Onslow, proved fatal to Harm Jansen Dirks, member of the Jones county board of supervisors. The accident occurred Monday at about 1:30 p.m. about 500 feet from the driveway of the P. Allen farm home. driver of the other car was George Burch, Center Junction. The Burch car was proceeding west and Dirks was traveling east and passing over a small hill when the accident occurred. Dirks was taken to Wyoming for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident and was taken from there to Iowa City but died before the hospital was reached. At the time of his death Dirks was chairman of the Jones County board of supervisors. The Jones county courthouse will be closed Thursday afternoon and personnel will atten the funeral in a group. Time of funeral services at 1:30 p.m. at St John's Lutheran church in Monticello. Harm Jansen Dirks, 68 was born in Restholt, Germany on Sept 22, 1890, the son of Gerd and Johanna Schelstadt Dirks. He married on June 26, 1912 to Kathryn Hanken Norris, she survives. Harm Dirks was chairman of the Jones county board of supervisors at the present time, also president of the sixth district county officers association. He had served on the Center Junction creamery board for a number of years. Was on the Jones county co-operative board and served on the Center Junction school board. Survivors include his wife, two sons, LeRoy and George, Center Junction, a stepson Walter Norris and a step daughter, Mrs August (Irene) Schrader both of Center Junction, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services held July 2, at 1:30 p.m. at St John's Lutheran church. The Wallace funeral home at Wyoming was in charge of arrangements.
