Description	:	Harold Gray, youngest of three brothers, grew up in Dardanelle during the 30s 40s and 50s working in his father Armour's grocery store. In 1961 he was hired by his oldest brother J.R. to take photographs for Joe Gray Graphic Design. They expanded Harold's photography business to include photography for hire in and around the Arkansas River Valley. Over the period of 1961-1971 Harold shot over 4,000 images, mostly on a Graflex Speed Graphic press camera with a 4x5 format. Harold was a quiet, unassuming man and these qualities allowed him access and flexibility—two essential elements when photographing people—in his work. Harold married Neoma Mae Webb in April, 1970. They lived together until Harold's untimely death in October, 1971. Harold's entire collection of negatives was held by his brother J.R. until his death in 2011. Currently they are being scanned and curated by Harold's nephew Bob who shares ownership of the collection with his sister Joanna and Harold's niece Mary.
