Description	:	Harold "Bud" DeWall, age 81, passed away on February 22, 2013, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Harold Dean DeWall was born on May 26, 1931, on the farm near Pocahontas. He was the son of Henry G. and Minnie (Aljets) DeWall. Bud graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1949. After he completed his education, he farmed with his dad and brothers. Harold Dean DeWall was born on May 26, 1931, on the farm near Pocahontas. He was the son of Henry G. and Minnie (Aljets) DeWall. Bud graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1949. After he completed his education, he farmed with his dad and brothers. Bud served in the US Army in Korea from 1952 - 1954. After his discharge, Bud farmed with his dad and brothers on a farm north of Laurens. In 1967, Virg and Bud began farming near Pocahontas. From 1977 until he retired in the late 1990’s Bud farmed with his nephews Dan and Dave. Bud was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he served as the head usher for many years, the AMVETS, VFW and he was the commander of the Pocahontas American Legion for forty-two years. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, snowmobiling, fishing, all sports (especially Iowa, Iowa State, Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings football) and spending time with family and friends. In 2007, he was one of the Grand Marshals for Heritage Days. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and Virgil.
