Description	:	Harold D. "Hud" Cromwell, 82, died Saturday, June 7, 2002, at his home. He owned and operated Cromwell's Food Market in Hicksville and worked at the Hicksville Post Office until his retirement. He graduated from Hicksville High School class of 1938 and served in the U.S. Army, 10th Mountain Division, 85th Infantry, and was wounded in a battle at the Po River in Italy. He owned and operated Cromwell's Food Market in Hicksville and worked at the Hicksville Post Office until his retirement. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Cromwell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hicksville. He was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Bryan, Ohio, to James and Dessie (Evans) Cromwell. He married Vivian E. (Killian) Cromwell. Surviving are his wife of 63 years; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dr. James L. and Sarah Cromwell of Springfield, Ohio, Dr. Thomas R. and Linda Cromwell of West Unity, Ohio, and Todd S. Cromwell of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnne Wise, Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home, 706 N. Main St., Hicksville, Ohio, with Pastor John Naugle of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio, with graveside military services. Calling is from 5 to 9 p.m. today (Ohio time) at the funeral home, and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are to Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, or the First Presbyterian Church. WWII :..Cromwell, Harold Dwaine, PFC (USA) 9-6-20 to 6-7-2003 Inducted April 25, 1944 at Ft. Harrison, IN and trained in TX and FL. Assigned to Co M, 85th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division and overseas to Italy January 1945. Served as Mortar Gunner and took part in the Po River Campaign. WIA by shell fragments but not serious. Back to States July 1945 to prepare for Pacific action but war ended before that happened.
