HYLTON Harold Leslie Hylton, the son of Harold Marvin and Frances Craig Hylton, was born at Sabetha, Kansas on July 8, 1941. Read More	Obit from the Sabetha Herald 12 Sep 1984 Pg 6 cl 5-6 HAROLD L. HYLTON Harold Leslie Hylton, the son of Harold Marvin and Frances Craig Hylton, was born at Sabetha, Kansas on July 8, 1941. He grew up in the Sabetha area and graduated in the class of 1959 from the Sabetha High School. Harold entered the U.S. Army on June 11, 1959 and served overseas. He and his wife Audrey Anne, returned to the area and Harold attended Highland Junior College. They had two children, Maurice and Gloria. Harold attended Peru State Teachers College and graduated with a degree in education. He taught at Plattsburg, Missouri and attended Northwest Missouri State. He earned a master's degree there in educational administration. Harold then taught school at Carroll and Bedford, Iowa and while he was in Iowa contracted hepatitis, which led to his death 12 years later, Sept. 5, 1984. In the mid 1970's he returned to Hiawatha, then in 1981 moved to Emporia to attend college. There he finished a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling. While attending Emporia State Teachers College he married the former Cathy Hernandez on May 14, 1982 at Ottawa. They moved to Topeka later in 1982. Harold had been a patient in Veteran Hospitals in Kansas City and in Topeka. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Topeka, the Fairview American Legion Post 322, the Knights of Columbus of Hiawatha and had been a member of the Hiawatha Elks # 1741. Preceding him in death was his father, Harold Marvin Hylton, August 21, 1984. Surviving him are his wife, Cathy, of Topeka; his mother, Frances Hylton, of Fairview; one son, Maurice Hylton, of Denver, Colorado; and one daughter, Gloria Hylton of Lincoln, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha on September 8, 1984. Father Al Pecinovsky officiated. Casketbearers were Lauton Kehler, Frank Craig, Paul Reynolds, Mario Gutierrez, Gregory Hernandez, Ambrosio Hernandez, Mike Dawson and Charles Riggs. The interment was made in the Bern Cemetery. Military graveside honors were conducted by the Fairview American Legion Post and taps were played by Lloyd McFall. Memorial contributions were made to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and sent in car of Popkess Mortuary, Sabetha. _____
