Read More	OBITUARY Harold Raymond Waterbury was born in Sioux City, Iowa, May 9, 1914, and died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Waterbury, west of Akron, Iowa, In Union county, S.D., January 16, 1930, at the age of 15 years, 8 months and 6 days. Apparently in the best of health, attending the high in Akron regularly the previous week, he complained of a pain in his side when he rode home from school on Friday afternoon. He felt better Saturday and went hinting that day, but that afternoon he again complained of his side hurting and a doctor was called, who did not think it was anything serious. But on Sunday evening the pain went to the other side and when the doctor was again called he immediately took Harold to the Akron Hospital, where and emergency operation was performed, the appendix being found in a ruptured state, and the doctors said at once that it was a very serious case, with slight hopes for a recovery. Harold picked up, however and seemed to be regaining his strength very slowly until Wednesday afternoon, when he began to fall, and the end came at 6 o'clock that evening, when a bright young life was ended right on the threshold of sturdy young manhood. Harold was a quiet, studious lad, a good scholar, a loving and dutiful son, a little gentleman in every sense of the word, and he won the love and respect and high esteem of all who knew him. He was an only child and his parents took pardonable pride in him for a finer, cleaner, nicer lad never lived than he, and he left as his friends all those who, made his acquaintance in every community he ever lived in. He was making splendid progress in his high school studies in Akron and took pride in his school work, but Providence had other plans and his bright young life was suddenly closed. The sadly bereaved parents and other relatives have the sincerest, most heartfelt sympathy of not only this community, but of every community wherein they have resided since the lad was born, for he made friends of all who knew him, wherever he went, and his sudden, unexpected taking away comes as a great shock to them all, and they all sorrow with them in the loss of their only and greatly beloved son, a lad who brought them only joy and happiness from the day he came to bless their home until the day he was called to the larger more beautiful life on high, where pain and sorrow and sickness are known no more forever. The funeral service was held at the Methodist church in Akron, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, being conducted by the pastor, Wilson Gow. Acting as pallbearers were Harold's high school classmates, Harold Peck, Haden Ramnie, Bernel Blum, Henry Anderson, Doyle Vick and Floyd Vick. The Akron high school, including Supt. Greenwood and the teachers, attended the services in a body. Mrs. J.C. Kennedy rendered two most appropriate solos and Mrs. W.J. Brunner presided at the piano. The large assemblage completely filled the main auditorium of the church, and several beautiful clusters of flowers were banked about the casket. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
