Newberg, 52 years old, were held at the Carson Funeral Home, on Saturday, May 5. He had passed away at his home near Gowrie quite suddenly on Thursday, May 3, after suffering a heart attack. Rev. George Den Hartog officiated, with Carsons in charge of arrangements. The songs, "Face to Face" and "In The Garden" were sung by Rev. and Mrs. Dennis Slaathaug, accompanied by Mr. Dennis Chase. Casket bearers were Norland Chase, Roy Olson, Ronald Olson, Vern Peterson, Archie Peterson and Arthur Moelling. Burial was made in the Dayton Cemetery. Harold and his family lived for many years on a farm northwest of Dayton and was well known by everyone here. He was a quiet person, and liked to read, and was very successful in working out answers to quiz programs, etc. He had many of his own recipes published in various papers and magazines, as well as a large number of poems and verses for jingles. The son of the late Victor and Martha Newberg, was born south of Dayton on July 4, 1909, and passed away at home at the age of 52 years. While still a young man, he moved with the family to a farm near Burnside, where he attended school. In 1927, they moved to a farm north of Dayton where he resided with his mother and brothers until her death in 1954, and they later moved to the present home at Gowrie. Harold had been in poor health for the last four years with a heart condition and passed away from the attack on May 3. He leaves to mourn his two brothers, C. E. Newberg and Arthur Newberg and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Olson and Mrs. Tillie Peterson. Also many nieces and nephews and friends.
