Obituary Tipton Advertiser March 24, 1910 Mrs. J. W. Knott. Harrriet C. Starr, daughter of John H. Knott and Clarissa F. Starr, was born August 27, 1842, in Columbus, O. Her parents removed to Tipton in 1850. She was married to J. W. Knott of this place on April 2, 1861. They united with the Presbyterian church soon after and when in 1867 Mr. Knott graduated from McCormick Seminary, they entered their life work of ministering to the churches, and continued in this labor for forty-two years. They retired from active service in 1909, spending a year in Iowa City, then went to live with their son in Yoncalla, Oregon. Nine children came to bless their home, of whom five preceded the mother to their heavenly home. Those who remain are Leroy of Paris, Ill; Robert A. of Ketchena, Idaho; Mrs. E. F. Allen, of Salt Lake City, and George C. of Yoncalla, Ore. Mrs. Knott possessed a genial, sympathetic temperament which won to her many warm friends, who will cherish the memory of consecrated life. She was a devoted wife, a faithful sister and a helper in every good work. Her death was caused by apoplexy, the end coming March 11, 1910. After the funeral service in the Presbyterian church in Yoncalla, the remains were brought to Tipton by Robert A.
